Traditional Food Festival 2019 – Kapuas Hulu
September 14-15, 2019 I was assigned to documented the 2019 Traditional Food Festival in Lanjak, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan. The annual event held to preserve traditional foods that began to decrease, replaced by instant foods.

The 2019 Traditional Food Festival was very crowded. The last year usually only followed by 10 groups. For 2019 festival follow by 23 groups. Already imagined what will be the excitement of the atmosphere during the traditional food festival.
On D-day, the participants were busy with each food ingredients they had prepared. Food ingredients originating from the environment around their village. May come from forests, rivers and gardens. It is forbidden to use instant flavoring ingredients (micin).

After that the participants served their food to be tasted by the judges from 4 countries. There are Jenne De Beer from the Netherlands, Hirowaka and Norito from Japan, Taro from Malaysia, and Ir. Arief Mahmud, M.Sc and Siska from Indonesia.

The most awaited moment is after judging finish their scoring, all visitors can enjoy the available dining menu. Some have never tried sago caterpillars. Some like ants, some are tasting all the fruits that are presented. I myself got one big coconut from one of the participants who saw me spinning around to document the event.

Congratulations to all the winners, as said by Ir. Arief Mahmud, M.Sc, they are all winners, because everything is delicious. And thank you to all parties so that the event went smoothly without any obstacles.

For the results of the documentation will be collected into a photobook and book of traditional food menu from Kapuas Hulu.
